Obituary

Harold James "Jim" Macy, Jr. 82, Minneapolis, went to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior, on Tuesday, August 13, 2013. Jim was born March 2, 1931 near Oak Hill to Harold James and Mildred E. (Greep) Macy.

He served in the United States Air Force for four years and he was a graduate of Kansas State University. Jim was united in marriage with Ruth Burks on June 3, 1956 in Mankato. Jim taught Vo-Ag and General Science in Pratt, Osborne, before moving to Minneapolis where he taught for 25 years. In 1991, he had a stroke and had to retire from teaching. Jim was determined to overcome the effects of the stroke and it didn't slow him down. He was an active member at the Golden Wheel Senior Center, the Noon Lions Club, and the Hall Wesleyan Church. His family, especially his grandchildren, meant the world to him. Jim and Ruth attended as many athletic events as they could as he was an avid supporter of the local teams.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ruth of the home; son Jay Macy of Minneapolis; daughter Janna Rash and her husband Kevin of Minneapolis; brother Robert Macy of Wichita; and his grandchildren Drew, Jordan, and Dylan Crosson, Kyler and Ashlyn Macy, Jacy Crosson, Josh Macy, and Jeff Rash.

A celebration of Jim's life will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 17 at the Bennington Bible Church, Bennington. Burial will follow in the Wesleyan #7 Cemetery near Oak Hill. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. Friday at the Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis where the family will receive friends from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Minneapolis Junior Senior High School Athletic Department or the Golden Wheel and may be left in care of the funeral home.
