Gladys Marjorie Wooley, 93, Minneapolis, died Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Nicol Home in Glasco. Gladys was born October 28, 1924 in Minneapolis to Burton and Lillie (Boatwright) Joyce.
Gladys attended high school until her junior year. She then became and was proud to be a Rosie the Riveter; helping to assemble airplanes used during World War II. Gladys and Dillard M. Wooley were united in marriage on March 11, 1946 in San Diego, CA. She worked for many years in the kitchen at the Ottawa County Health Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dillard; siblings, Eugene and Burton Joyce, and Katie Liby; son-in-law, Edward H. "Big Ed" Garst; and grandson, Edward D. "Little Ed" Garst.
Survivors include her children, Marjorie Garst, Joyce Bacon and husband Jerry, and Richard Wooley and his wife Tisha; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 26 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00. Memorials may be made to the Nicol Home or Meadowlark Hospice and may be left in care of Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467.
