George A. Dresie, 66, Salina, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 18, 2023, at his home, after a short but fierce battle with cancer.  He was born March 31, 1957, in Dodge City to Charles and Ethel (Boyce) Dresie.

He grew up on a farm south of Jetmore and was a 1975 graduate of Jetmore High School.  He furthered his education and was a graduate of Fort Hays State University.  He and Denise D. Heroneme were united in marriage in Zurich on May 25, 1979.  George previously farmed, worked for Kansas Cellular, and was an agent of Farm Bureau Financial Services in Minneapolis at the time of his death.

George was an accomplished trap shooter, avid motorcycle rider, and ever-aspiring motorcycle mechanic. He was a collector of many things, an inquisitive learner and adventurer. George was a mentor to many and always had some trivia fact to share. He loved to make people laugh. His quick wit and friendly smile had an impact on those he encountered each day, both in person and through his posts online. He will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother-in-law; and one sister-in-law.

Survivors are his wife of 44 years, Denise of the home; children, Steven A. Dresie and his wife, Anne of Leawood, Jared A. Dresie and his wife, Amanda of Olathe, and Elizabeth M. Dresie-Arnold and her husband, Brendan of South River, NJ; siblings, Nathan Dresie of Portales, NM, Carl Dresie of Rochester, NY, and Karen Simpson of Kansas City; and five grandchildren, Watson, Tessa, Madalin, Annabel, and Charlie.

Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, June 22 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00. A rosary will begin at 9:30 A.M., Friday June 23 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina, with the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:00 A.M.  Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Salina. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ottawa County Service Corporation for the Carnival or the Rebecca A. Morrison House and may be left in care of the funeral home.
