George Samuel Dolloff was born on a farm south of Gaylord , KS on February 22, 1911, to Ida Cordelia (Bentley) Dolloff and Herb Dolloff. He left to be with the Lord on November 26, 2008, at the age of 97 years. On April 29, 1934, he was married to Ethel Amanda Maier who preceded him in death on June 8, 2003. At the time of her death they had celebrated 69 years of marriage.

He is survived by three children, Viola Rhoads and her husband Wayne of Sedalia, Missouri; Nick Dolloff and his wife Deanna of Minneapolis, Kansas and Kay Leiker of Scott City, Kansas, 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren with three more expected. He is survived by one sister, Lucille Weaver of Englewood , Colorado . He was preceded by two infant children and two infant great-grandsons, Isaac Dolloff and Isaac Bird.

George was a well respected farmer in the Harlan, KS community all of his life until his health failed and he moved to Minneapolis , KS in 1989. In February, 2003, he moved to Sedalia , MO and lived there until his death but in his heart he was always a Kansan.

In his lifetime he went from farming with horses to farming with his Super C Farmall tractor and his Case tractor that he purchased new in Gaylord in the early 50's; from harvesting with a header to his self-propelled Massey-Harris combine. He loved the land and his shorthorn Hereford cattle.

He and his wife Ethel weathered the dirt storms of the 30's, the hardships that went with trying to raise crops and care for their livestock when it didn't rain and the dirt blew, or when it rained too much and the Solomon flooded, or when the winter was so cold the fruit froze in the cellar. George had a favorite scripture that he believed with all his heart recorded in the 37th chapter of Psalms and it was a lifetime source of strength in the tough times: "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand. I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread. He is ever merciful, and lends; and his descendants are blessed." He quoted this scripture on numerous occasions when the family was together.

George was very active in the Evangelical United Brethren Church/United Methodist Church of Harlan serving as Sunday School Superintendant, Sunday School teacher and a member of the Administrative Board. He also served on the Harlan school board, the area irrigation board and the Smith County Extension Board.

Services celebrating the life of George Dolloff will be on Saturday November 29 at 2:00 p.m. at the Portis United Methodist Church in Portis , KS . Interment will be in the Bethany Cemetery at Portis. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. Friday at Wilson Shields Funeral Home, Minneapolis where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 P.M. Memorials may be made to Billy Graham Ministries , Minneapolis Free Methodist Church, or Harlan Community Church
