Freddie August Hoesli Jr., 82, Glasco, passed away on June 18, 2016 at his home.

Freddie August Hoesli Jr. was born May 17, 1934, to Freddie Hoesli Sr. and Bernadine O. Garrison Hoesli. Fred was born on Pike Creek, rural Delphos in a grain bin.

He attended Hall Wesleyan Country School in rural Delphos and also Delphos School in Delphos through his freshman year. It was then that he decided he was smarter than his teachers and decided to quit.

Freddie met Flora Mae Henning in 1954, they were married July 17, 1955. To this union two children were born, Cecil August Hoesli and Nancy Mae Hoesli.

Freddie, or Fred, as most knew him, worked in a variety of different jobs. From helping build the grain elevators in Delphos, to driving a truck, to working as a custodian. He loved to keep active. Harvest was his favorite.

Fred, as most people knew him, worked in a variety of different positions. He helped Clyde Parkers and George Guard, building both elevators in Delphos. He also helped his dad run the COOP station in Delphos, worked at the grain elevator in Lincoln, NE, and helped his father cut wheat in South Dakota. Fred helped Harold Liby at the Eastside Station in Glasco, worked for Chalmer & Burton on elevators in Hutchinson, drove a truck for Toad Sparks and Plush Mills, Glasco; farmed for Max Martin; built El Dorado Campers, Minneapolis; Webber Implement, Beloit; as a custodian at Glasco High School, Nicol Home, and Minneapolis Grade and High Schools. He retired at the age of 70. Fred then worked part-time jobs to keep active; cleaning at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and helping Kenny and Sharon Henning harvest.

Fred enjoyed life, he especially loved his grandkids; Justin Gibbs and Rachel Wright, also his great grandson Ryan Ray. He loved watching Justin, Rachel, and Ryan in school activities. He was blessed to be able to watch Justin play college football during his trips to Highland Community College and the University of Charleston in Charleston, WV. He loved spending time with family. Some of his favorite trips were to Alaska with his brother, Jim Hoesli and wife Betty; camping, fishing, boating, wood working, and a good game of marbles. He made many trips to the Kansas State Fair and the Colby Jamboree. He loved the outdoors and harvest time.

He never knew a stranger, no matter where He was. Mom and I always use to think the reason for stopping at the rest area was for him to meet and visit with new people. He never forgot a face.

Fred was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church council for 9 years.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Cecil Hoesli and James Hoesli; one niece, Vicki Lee Hoesli; and two nephews, Leland James Henning and Keri Allen Hoesli.

Those left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his wife, Flora Mae Henning Hoesli; son, Cecil Hoesli of the home; daughter, Nancy and husband, Jackie Gibbs of Glasco; grandson, Justin Gibbs and wife, Margaret, Glen Burnie, MD; granddaughter, Rachel Wright and and husband, John, Minneapolis; great-grandson, Ryan Ray Harder, Minneapolis; one brother, Doug Hoesli and wife, Marilyn, Salina; sister-in-law, Betty Hoesli, Lamar, CO; brother-in-law, Jimmie Henning and wife Carolyn, Glasco; cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of many friends.

Visitation will be at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis on Wednesday, June 22, from 5-7pm. Cremation will follow the visitation.

Memorial services will be held, Friday, June 24, 10am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Glasco. Burial will be in the Glasco Cemetery.
