Frances Parsons Clark of Barnard, 90, peacefully joined her Lord and Savior in heaven on Thursday, July 9, 2009. She was born west of Barnard on the family farm on September 30, 1918, to Jessie and Frederic Parsons. She married Elmo Clark on February 28, 1940. They were married for sixty years before Elmo's death in April, 2000.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her four older sisters: Ruth Hamilton, Margaret Evans, Marian Medcraft, and Helen Loy; and two sons-in-law: Donald Facklam and Roland Williams.

Frances was a teacher for four years in one-room schools in Lincoln County. She was a caring homemaker and worked at the bank in Barnard for eighteen years. She was a Sunday school teacher at the First Baptist Church in Barnard and was a cooking leader for Salt Creek 4-H Club.

Frances is survived by her three daughters: Carol Modrow and husband Lee of Lincoln, Kathleen Williams of Burlingame, and Barbara Karlin and husband John of Salina; four grandchildren: Amy (Williams) Harris and husband Bill of Augusta, MI, Bonnie Williams of Topeka, Meredith Karlin and Christopher Karlin of Salina; and two great-grandsons: David and Michael Harris.

Frances donated her body to KU Medical Center for scientific research.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in Barnard. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church, Barnard, or the charity of the donor's choice.
