Floyd E. Smith, 91, Bennington, died Monday, September 7, 2015 at his rural Bennington home. He was born January 9, 1924 on the home place to William and Eliza (Markley) Smith.
Floyd was a 1942 graduate of Bennington High School. On August 16, 1952 he was united in marriage with Dorothy Suberly in Salina. He was a longtime home builder and farmer and stockman. Floyd served on the Bennington Fire Department for 47 years and he was a member of the Minneapolis Lodge #143 AF&AM.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, and brother, Harold Smith.
Survivors include his children Bill Smith and his wife Darcy, Janette Hildreth and husband Blain, and Annette Scott and husband Jim; six grandchildren Korey Klingenberg (Jordan), Justin Scott, Andrew Hildreth, Kallie Fickes (Jeremy), Anthony Hildreth (Kalee), and Skylar Smith; and four great-grandchildren Kya, Ayla, and Logan Klingenberg and Cade Fickes.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 12 at the Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Burial will follow in the Bennington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
