Evelyn Irene Schmidt, 81, Minneapolis, passed away Sat., August 28, 2010 at the Ottawa County Health Center. The daughter of Earl and Cleo Mae (Ford) Hoffman, she was born March 10, 1929 on a farm near Culver. She was a graduate of Culver High School.
She married Leland Gale Schmidt March 10, 1951 at Culver. Evelyn was a farm wife and worked in the laundry at the Ottawa County Health Center. She was also a caregiver for the elderly. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church at Ada, the American Baptist Women's Mission, the A-Team Relay for Life and the Salt Creek Club.
Her husband preceded her in death April 16, 1974. Survivors include her daughter, Rita Bronson and her son, Jerry W. Schmidt and his wife Tammy, all of Minneapolis; six grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday , August 31 at Wilson Shields Funeral Home, Minneapolis, with the family present from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 1, at the Antioch Baptist Church in Ada, with the Rev. Harry Fink officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. Memorials are suggested to the Church, the A-Team Relay for Life and the Ada Museum.
