Evelyn I. Nelson, 77, Minneapolis, Kansas, died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis. Evelyn was born March 26, 1933 in Phillips County, Kansas to Lloyd and Edna (Kinkaid) Richardson.
She was united in marriage with Duane Nelson on May 28, 1955. She was an elementary school teacher in Huntington Park, California and in Abilene, Kansas. After moving to Minneapolis, Evelyn was a librarian at the Minneapolis Public Library from 1996 to 2001. She and Duane attended the Sunset Bible Chapel in Salina.
Survivors include her husband Duane of Minneapolis; her son Kenneth Nelson of Minneapolis; her daughter Janina Allred of Corona, California; her brother Louis Richardson of Hutchinson; her sisters Ruth Gueldner of Fountain Valley, California and Rhea Brunner of Hutchinson, Kansas; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday at Wilson Shields Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Graveside services will be at 3:00 P.M. at the Long Island Cemetery, Long Island, Kansas. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Evelyn's name and will be designated to a charity at a later date.
