Emily Mae Walmsley was born September 1, 1935, in Aurora to Earl Walter Goldenstein and Agnes Ellen (Bremerman) Goldenstein. She was raised on a farm near Aurora, KS. She passed away on June 6, 2014, at the Wakefield Golden Living Center in Wakefield Kansas.

Emily graduated from Miltonvale High School then went on to attend and Graduate from the Brown Mackie College in Salina Kansas.

On May 29, 1958, she married Joseph Earl Walmsley of Minneapolis, KS at the Baptist Church in Minneapolis. They resided briefly in South Dakota, then in Minneapolis, Kansas until they moved to their home on a farm north west of Bennington Kansas where they raised their four children. Emily worked at many different positions including: cooking at the Carver Inn Restaurant, dispatcher for the Ottawa County Sherriff's Department, and manager at the Pizza Hut in Minneapolis Kansas before moving on to employment as an Office Assistant for Dr. Pennington then Dr. Young both Chiropractors in Salina, KS. Joseph preceded her in death on January 2, 1987 and Emily moved for a time to Missouri then back to Kansas eventually moving back to North Central Kansas area where she grew up. She was baptized at the Baptist Church in Minneapolis Kansas.

She is survived by her children, Joseph "Brett" Walmsley and his wife Sandra Walmsley of Savannah, GA; Jeffrey Wayne Walmsley and his wife Audrey Walmsley of Kearney, NE; Jay "Patrick" Walmsley and his wife Bridget Walmsley of Berryton, KS; daughter Julie Ann Walmsley of Clay Center, KS; sister Maxine Trahan of Miltonvale, KS; nine grandchildren, Jason, Abbigale, Hailey, Jared, Benjamin, Tyler, Emily Jo, Joel, and Hannah and seven great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Larry Earl Goldenstein.

Emily enjoyed gardening, shopping, spending time with family and friends camping or just enjoying a meal. She loved holidays especially Christmas making cookies and candies for everyone. She enjoyed traveling delivering Eldorado campers with Joe, spending time with her sister seeking genealogy about their family and traveling with her. She liked watching birds especially hummingbirds, butterflies, reading and good conversation. Emily loved to be with her family, her friends and enjoyed just visiting and having a good laugh.


Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday at the Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Avenue, Minneapolis KS 67467 with Rev. Nate Marsh officiating. A private family burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home with family present from 6:00pm-7:30pm. Memorials may be given to the family. Memorials are suggested to the family.
