Eleonora Leech, 94, passed from this life to the presence of her Heavenly Father on July 4, 2018 at the  Ottawa County Health Center in Minneapolis.

Eleonora was born to Clarence and Ruby (Axtell) Bartsch on December 4, 1923 in Mankato, Kansas. After graduating from Jewell High School she attended Brown Mackie Business school in Salina until becoming employed with HD Lee Mercantile.  During WWII she met Elliott Leech who was stationed at Smoky Hill Air Base.  They were married February 3, 1946 in Minneapolis, Kansas and this union lasted until Elliott's death on 11/4/2001.  To this union were born 3 sons – Keith (Barbara) of Morrison, Illinois, Dale (Carolyn), and Karl (Angie) of Minneapolis, Ks.  She was blessed with 7 grandchildren – Christine (Todd) Schlegel, Jennifer (Ed) Novak); Kathryn (Matt) Schaffner, Daniel (Darcy) Leech, Celeste (Ben) McGlamery; Rheann Leech and Christopher (Susan) Leech and 17 great-grandchildren – Madison, Lauren & Jacob Schlegel; Allison and Sarah Novak; Gavin, Audra, Gabriel, Nicholas, Aiden, Brennan, Eliana and Charlotte Schaffner; ; Eli and Hannah Leech; Theodore McGlamery; and Avelyn Leech, all of whom she loved dearly.

Elliott and she resided briefly in Morrison, Illinois before moving to Minneapolis in late 1946 where she lived until her death.  Eleonora was proceeded in death by her husband Elliott, her parents – Clarence and Ruby Bartsch and her brother George Bartsch.  Her life long passions were showered on her family, and service in the Minneapolis United Methodist church, and VFW Auxiliary Post among other local organizations. While in Minneapolis she was employed at Bartsch's IGA, the County Attorney's office, El Dorado National and for 48 years as the secretary of the United Methodist Church.  She served as President of both the local VFW Auxiliary Post and the District VFW Auxiliary for one year terms.  Eleonora's legacy of faith in Jesus Christ, and service to her community lives on in her beloved family members.

Visitation at the Wilson Family Funeral Home in Minneapolis will be on 7/20/2018 from 5pm - 7pm.  A Celebration of her life will be at the Minneapolis United Methodist Church on 7/21/2018 at 2pm, co-officiated by Rev. Joohyang Kim and Rev. Matthew Schaffner. Burial w ill follow at the Highland Cemetery in Minneapolis.  Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
