Elbert F. "Ace" Drummond, 83, Minneapolis, died Friday at Salina Regional Health Center.
The son of John L. and Cecil L. (Plymire) Drummond, he was born August 21, 1925 at Asherville. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He married Frances A. Derganz October 4, 1952 at Salina and they made their home in Minneapolis.
Ace was a former School Transportation Coordinator, owned and operated Ace Auto Shop and worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation. He also farmed.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was a Past Commander and was currently serving as Quartermaster of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3201. He was also Adjutant of American Legion Post No. 62. He was a former Mayor of Minneapolis, served on the city council and served on the Minneapolis Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife Frances; 2 sons, Tony Drummond and wife Susan and Paul Drummond and wife Jerri, all of Minneapolis; a daughter Denise and husband Sheldon Frain of Bonner Springs; a brother Gary Drummond of Salina; a sister Virginia Egbert of Wichita and 2 grandchildren, Leslie and husband Matthew Parker of Shawnee and Chris Drummond and wife Michelle of Fredonia.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church in Minneapolis. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 P.M. Monday at Wilson Shields Funeral Home with the family present from 6:30 to 8 P.M. Memorials are to Minneapolis Public Library or Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3201.
