Elaine Stone, 91, Minneapolis, Kansas died Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis. She was born Helen Elaine Jenkins on September 28, 1918 to Owens D. and Bertha M. (Sentz) Jenkins in St. Joseph, Missouri.
On December 13, 1941 she was united in marriage with O.H. "Mike" Stone. To this union two children, Daryl and Sharon, were born. Elaine taught school at County Line School northeast of Tescott, Roy Schoolhouse near Culver, Delphos, and Ada. When the Ada schools were closed she was the principal at the Ada Grade School. Elaine was a member of the Ada United Methodist Church. She was active with the Ada Senior Citizen's Center and was a 4-H leader.
She was preceded in death by her husband on May 26, 1980 and her daughter Sharon Kimmel on December 23, 2009.
Elaine is survived by her son Daryl Stone and his wife Leah of Minneapolis; her son-in-law Bill Kimmel of Minneapolis; her sister Henrietta Weiland of Minneapolis; her two granddaughters Cherene Fisher and her husband Jay of Wichita and Alyssa Kimmel of Topeka; and her two great-granddaughters Jessica and Julianne Fisher of Wichita.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday at Fairview Cemetery, Ada with the Rev. April Wegehaupt officiating. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 5 P.M. Sunday at Wilson Shields Funeral Home, Minneapolis with the family present from 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Ada Museum and may be left in care of the funeral home.
