Edwin C. Piersee, 84, Salina, Kansas, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Good Samaritan Society – Minneapolis. Ed was born June 21, 1925 near Wells, Kansas to Chester A. and Elizabeth (Harder) Piersee.
Ed was a United States Navy veteran. On December 23, 1947 he was united in marriage with Marjorie R. Pogue. He was a farmer and rancher for many years before becoming the owner and operator of Sunflower Taxi Service in Salina. Ed was a member of the Community Bible Church in Minneapolis.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Marjorie on December 30, 2002; his sister Jeanette Heard; and an infant great-grandson Kaiden.
Survivors include his children, Rick Piersee of Simpson, Deanna Bowman of Salina, and Brian Piersee of Scandia; his sister Pauline Kloss of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M., Thursday at the Community Bible Church, Minneapolis with the Rev. Doug Neumann officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Wilson Shields Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Tammy Walker Cancer Center or the choice of the donor.
