Edna Brown Farrington Parrish, Minneapolis, died Friday, March 4, 2011 at her home at the age of 103. She was born September 24, 1907 on a farm near Culver, Kansas. She was the third child of Louis and Lucy (Brewer) Brown.
On September 24, 1923 she was united in marriage with Christopher F. Farrington. To that union, two sons were born; Thayne D. and Loyd D. Farrington. Chris died in June of 1961. In December of 1975 Edna was united in marriage with Harry "Hap" Parrish. Edna gained six wonderful step-children. Hap passed away July 2, 1988.
Edna was also preceded in death by her youngest son Loyd on March 14, 2001; three step-sons Bob, Lyle, and Jack Parrish; her brothers Earl and Fay Brown; and her sister Lola Dallen.
Left to mourn her passing are her son Thayne "TD" Farrington and his wife Jean of Wichita; her daughter-in-law Nancy Farrington Boone and her husband Dean of Salina; step-son Lowell Parrish and his wife Shirley of Minneapolis; step-daughters, Donna Dejmal and her husband Jim of Concordia and DeAnn Brown and her husband Bob of Payson, AZ; step-daughter-in-law Norlene Parrish of Brighton, CO; four grandchildren Curt Farrington of Cheney, Terry Farrington of Minneapolis, Paul Farrington of Barto, PA, and Amy Meredith of Salina; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; and many friends.
Edna was a resident of Minneapolis for 79 years where she was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church. She was known to many through her work at the Minneapolis Grade School lunch program and Schmitty's Floral Shop.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 11 at the First United Methodist Church, Minneapolis with Pastor April Wegehaupt officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may view and sign the register book on Thursday from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
