Edna Florence Boss, 90, of rural Bennington, KS passed away January 21, 2016. She was born May 3, 1925 in Barnard, KS, the daughter of Will and Ruby (Horn) Nelson.
Edna grew up on a farm northwest of Ada and graduated from Ada High School in 1943. She attended Brown Mackie and worked as a secretary for Production Credit, Sunflower Bank and other businesses before choosing to be a full time homemaker and mother. She was a member of the United Church of Bennington and had been a Sunday school teacher for many years. Edna also served many years as a Pleasant Valley 4-H leader.
Edna was united in marriage to Robert Dean Boss on October 27, 1946 and they spent their lives together working on their rural Bennington farm.
Edna is survived by her devoted husband, Bob; children Barbara Powell, East Granby, CT; Patricia (Steve) Baccus, Minneapolis, Robert N (Renee) Boss, Bennington; grandchildren Heather Powell, Kirstin (Ryan) Powell-Williams, Mindy (Jude) Wilson, Kimberly (Jason) Bird, Michelle, Stephanie and Kenny (Missy) Baccus, Lacy Boss, Rob Boss and Kylee (Austin) Fick; great grandchildren Calvin Williams, Mikaleigh, Devany, Brenna and Tug Wilson, Dakota Baccus, Keyon Baccus, and Audrey Fick. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters and son-in-law David Powell.
A memorial service honoring Edna will be held at a future date in Bennington, KS. Memorials may be made to the Ottawa County Health Center Long Term Care or the United Church of Bennington.
