Earl Lynn "Digger" Farrington's Obituary
Earl "Digger" Lynn Farrington, 70, Minneapolis, died Sunday, March 8, 2015 in Salina. He was born November 13, 1944 in Minneapolis to Earl H. and Nina (Sherbondy) Farrington. Lynn was a 1963 graduate of Minneapolis High School. A very important accomplishment is that he worked for 38 years at Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis, KS, as a sexton, hence he inherited the nickname "Digger."
Lynn's interests included politics, golf, fishing, and watching KU sports. He had a great sense of humor and always loved "cracking a joke." He had an uncanny way of making a joke or a rhyme out of any situation, and even had the unusual talent of writing limericks. Lynn kept a sharp mind by working crossword puzzles, and could answer the tough questions with knowledge he gained from reading.
Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and always enjoyed visits from his friends, family, and especially the "little ones." He's enjoyed spending the past year living at Arbor Court in Salina, after he moved from his lifelong home in Minneapolis. Lynn has enjoyed his newfound family at Arbor Court. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and the Minneapolis Lodge #143 AF&AM.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Bonnie Lorenson; and his aunt Edna Farrington Parrish.
Survivors include "family" Lonnie & Lil Bergman, and Dennis & Jan Tingen. He was known as "Unkie" by James & Cori (Tingen) Seidel, Addison, Blake, Mallory and Maci; Eric & Candice (Tingen) Goble, Marisa, Kendra, and Chloe; Craig & Leslie Tingen, Mikayla, Natalie and Paige. He is also survived by many cousins and friends.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday at Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Minneapolis.
