Dewayne E. Kiser, 82 of Delphos, passed away Sept 24th, 2013 at Ottawa County Health Center. Dewayne was born March 5, 1931 in Salina, Kansas to Wayne and Louisa (Smith) Kiser. He married Delilah D Higgs on June 27, 1950 in Bedford, Indiana. Dewayne served in the US Air Force from 1953 to 1975 with two unaccompanied tours overseas while Dee took care of the family. He retired out of McConnell AFB in 1975 as a MSGT after serving 22 years in the US Air Force maintaining the C-130, F4, and F-106 Aircraft. He served in France, Formosa, Thailand, and Korea and several CONUS locations. Dewayne spent several years of his spare time as a Boy Scout troop leader and his three sons and two grandsons all have achieved the highest rank of Eagle Scout.

Following his military retirement the family relocated to his boyhood hometown of Delphos Ks. He always wanted a place in the country and Dee wanted to live in the city. So they bought a place in town with 33 acres attached outside the city limits. He worked as the custodian at Delphos Attendance Center for 10 years and also helped farm with Willard Irvine and Bob Klein. He was a member of the V.F.W., Delphos Fire Department, Lions Club, and the American Legion. Dewayne and Dee were members of the First Presbyterian Church. Dewayne enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, gardening, and was always willing to fix a household problem for one of the kids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Buddy; sister Louise; an infant sister; and
grandson Jeremy Kiser.

Survivors include his wife, Dee, of the home; daughter Linda Letendre (Tom) of Delphos, Sons, Mike (Annette) of Okawville, IL; Tim (Karen) of Delphos, Randy (Jean) of Logan, KS; 11 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren with one more on the way.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, September 27, at the First Presbyterian Church, Delphos with Pastor Michele McHenry officiating. Burial will be in the Delphos Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. Thursday at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467 where the family will receive friends from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church and may be left in care of the funeral home.
