Della June Andersen was born to Earl and Lelia (Neu) Gard at Powell, Wyoming on June 8, 1935, the second of three children and departed this earth May 29, 2016 at Minneapolis, Kansas.

She attended grade school at Edson, KS and graduated from high school at Sugar City, CO in 1953. She later enrolled in the X-ray Technician training program at Grace Hospital in Hutchinson, KS. While there, she met a school teacher, Louis Andersen, and they were married on August 22, 1956. To this union, three daughters were born.

Della June worked a variety of places as she accompanied her husband as he moved from school district to school district. She worked in the offices at Ft Leavenworth, in banks at Minneapolis and Inman, and the county extension office at Mankato, to name a few. Della June was a member of First United Methodist Church of Minneapolis and for many years was very active in UMW.

She was an avid reader, frequenting local libraries wherever she lived. She also spent much time reading to sightless or near sightless ladies. Della June liked to bake cookies, especially for her grandchildren, and did so until the last few weeks she was with us. Even though she was afflicted with MS for about 35 years, she always had a smiling face when she was among people. She also was well known among friends and relatives for remembering birthdays and anniversaries.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Raymond.

Survivors include her husband Louis, sister Norma Crockett of Arvada, CO, daughters Blythe (Evan) Atwell, Virginia (Craig) Wallace, of Minneapolis, KS, Jo (Ed) Stahlman of Mammoth Spring, AR, grandchildren Shelby Atwell, Seth (Chelsea) Atwell, Trisha (Robert) Johnson, Deyrle (Christine) Wallace, Daylan Wallace, Daren (Heather) Wallace and Justin (Lori) Stahlman, seven great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Della June is to be cremated and plans for a memorial services will be at a later date. Memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church or the Golden Wheel Senior Center both of Minneapolis, KS. Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, is handling the arrangements.
