Deland Dean Bretton, 26, Wamego, formerly of Minneapolis, died Monday, August 8, 2011. Deland was born September 5, 1984 in Salina to Richard D. and Rita M. (Steinbrock) Bretton. He was a 2003 graduate of Minneapolis High School. He then attended Salina Vo-Tech and Highland Community College. Deland was currently working at Caterpillar in Wamego as a welder and he was an avid outdoorsman.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother Donna Steinbrock and his grandfather Dean Bretton.

Survivors include his parents Richard and Rita Bretton of Minneapolis; his sister Darci Hurtig and her husband Bill of Tescott; his grandmother Marie Bretton of Minneapolis; and his two nephews Brody and Brock Hurtig both of Tescott. Deland will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. His friends were many.

A celebration of Deland's life will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 12 at the First Presbyterian Church, Minneapolis with Pastor Michele McHenry officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Minneapolis. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. Thursday at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis where the family will receive friends from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Deland Bretton Memorial Fund which will be designated later.
