Dale E. Tasker, 88, Bennington, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis.
He was born April 10, 1921 at Delphos, the son of Russell E. and Zella M. (Chambers) Tasker. On June 7, 1941 he married Glenola Bellows, and they were long time residents of the Bennington community. She preceded him in death February 24, 2004.
Dale served in the United States Navy during World War II. He farmed and was later custodian of the Bennington schools. He and Glenola owned and operated the Glendale Grocery in Bennington for many years. He was member of the United Church of Bennington and was a former member of the Lions
Club, the Farm Bureau and was active as a 4-H Club community leader. He was also a former mayor and city councilman and was one of the first EMT's in the Bennington ambulance service.
Survivors include two sons: Larry and wife Sharon of Bennington and Jerry and wife Debbie of Littleton, CO; a daughter Sheryl Tasker and Bruce Hargreaves of Topeka; a brother Lowell and wife Mary Ann of Minneapolis; grandchildren Sherry Comfort, Russell Tasker, Danielle Fienhage, Michelle Calvin, Janielle Fulton, Arianne Tasker, and Casey, Sara and Alan Hargreaves and great-grandchildren Brandy and Brooks Olivier, Jessie and Bailey Fienhage, Tanner and Hailey Calvin, Matt and Mark Sidener and David and Lilly Fulton.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Wilson Shields Funeral Home, Minneapolis, with the family present from 6 to 8 P.M. The funeral will be at 10 A.M.Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Warren Cico officiating, with burial in the Bennington Cemetery. The family requests memorials to the United Church of Bennington or the Bennington Ambulance Fund in lieu of flowers.
