Cleo McClure entered heaven on March 21, 2013, at the age of 96. She was born on a farm near Tescott to Chet and Alice (Miller) Berthelson on June 24, 1916. Her childhood years were spent learning to cook and sew, working on the farm, and riding horses. She graduated from Tescott High School in 1933.

She was united in marriage to Lloyd "Mitch" McClure on February 2, 1941. Cleo loved being a homemaker for her family. She enjoyed gardening and there wasn't a plant she couldn't grow. She perfected the art of sand hill plum jelly, snicker doodle cookies, and zucchini bread. Cleo also loved playing cards with her girlfriends at the Salina Country Club and around the family table with her kids and grandkids. She was 95 years old before she quit working in the garden, canning tomatoes, and embroidering. Cleo's embroidery talents have been enjoyed by many through the hundreds of quilt blocks she made for the quilts auctioned at the Tescott Methodist Church Bazaar.

Nothing meant more to
Cleo than her family. She was preceded in death by Mitch, her husband of 52 years, grandson John McClure, and sister Lucille Wilson.

She is survived by sons Gilbert McClure (Marilyn) of Kansas City, KS and Gordon McClure (Rosie) of Tescott. Grandchildren Rob McClure (Jennifer), Angela Kolenda (Paul), Jeana Brack (Scott), Amy McClure, James McClure (Brandi), Allison Krich (Chris). Great-grandchildren Zachary, Zane, and Weston McClure, Olivia and Lucy Kolenda, Carley, Cailyn and Colton Brack, Maci, Miley and Morgan McClure, and baby boy Krich due in July and great-great grandson, Mason McClure. She is also survived by her sister, Joann (Paul) Berkley of Salina.

Cleo was a member of the Tescott United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, American Legion Auxiliary and the Salina Country Club.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M., Monday, March 25, at the Tescott United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery, Tescott. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. Sunday at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis where the family will receive friends from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tescott Alumni Association, Tescott United Methodist Church, or the donor's choice.
