Celeta M. Serrien, 79, Minneapolis, died Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society – Minneapolis. She was born July 24, 1934 in Miltonvale to Levi and Julia (Wells) Matson.
Celeta was a graduate of Miltonvale High School and she was united in marriage with Donald J. Serrien on October 3, 1954. She attended Brown Mackie College and worked at Duckwalls for a short time. Celeta then worked for many years as an aide at the Ottawa County Health Department. Celeta was a charter member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the United Methodist Church both in Miltonvale.
She was preceded in death by her half-brother Clifford Matson.
Survivors include her husband Donald; sons Kyle Serrien and Karl Serrien and his wife Paula; brother Arden Matson; two grandchildren Kollin and Kelsey Serrien; six step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, April 17 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the V.F.W. Auxiliary Fair Stand Fund or the American Heart Association and may be left in care of the funeral home.
