Bruce W. Barefield, 67, Minneapolis, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 30, 2016 at his home. He was born October 28, 1948 in Topeka to Robert Boyd and Marilyn O. (Price) Barefield.

Bruce was a 1967 graduate of Minneapolis High School and he then attended Kansas State University from 1967-71. He served his country for two years in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Bruce earned his Law Degree from Washburn University in 1976. He and Karen Thompson were united in marriage on December 30, 1974. They joined the Law Firm of R.B. Barefield and Evan Corman in Minneapolis in 1976 and practiced for 40 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife Karen of the home; daughters Gisela Grigg and husband Steve of Minneapolis and Andrea Barefield of Las Vegas, NV; brother Russell Barefield and wife Melanie of Minneapolis; sister Robin Barefield Munsey and husband Mike of Kodiak, AK; and two grandchildren Tyler and Kaysie Grigg both of Minneapolis.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 4 at the First Presbyterian Church, Minneapolis.  Burial will be in Highland Cemetery with military honors.  Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, where the family will receive friends from 5-7. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Minneapolis High School Alumni Scholarship Fund and may be left in care of Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467.
