Bonnie Jean Clanton, 90, Minneapolis, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, September 9, 2011. Bonnie was born December 10, 1920 in Minneapolis to Thomas and Florence (Hubbard) Davis; her step-parents were Ross and Winnie Thompson.
She was a 1938 graduate of Minneapolis High School. Bonnie and Bernard L. Clanton were united in marriage on March 8, 1942 in Houston, TX. She was a devoted Christian woman who loved her family and most importantly she loved Jesus. Her memberships included the Eastern Star, and the Presbyterian, Methodist, and New Beginnings Christian Fellowship churches. She also served as a 4H and Boy Scout leader for years.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Bernard on April 10, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her brother James R. Davis and her sister Harriett Lee Hawkins.
Survivors include her sons Steve Clanton and his wife Sue of Minneapolis and Curtis Clanton and his wife Louise of Blackwell, OK; her daughters Caryl Clanton of Topeka and Sandra Clanton of Minneapolis; her sister Ruth Ann Legg of Kansas City, MO; her grandchildren Aaron Clanton and his wife Karyn, Sarah Lacy and her husband Kenn, and Ashley Johnson and her husband Rick; two step-grandchildren Wade Kennon and Jennifer Kennon; five great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Bonnie's life will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 14 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to New Beginnings Christian Fellowship Church or the Golden Wheel Senior Center.
