Bobbie D. Wallace, 84, Minneapolis, died Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis. Bob was born January 31, 1926 in Wells to William and Mary Ann (Shirley) Wallace.
Bob was a graduate of Minneapolis High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in WWII and the Korean War. He was united in marriage with Myrtle Miller on October 12, 1948 in Minneapolis. He was a maintenance supervisor for Georgia Pacific Paper Mill in Eureka, CA for many years before moving back home to Minneapolis where he worked for ElDorado for ten years. For many years in December, Bob portrayed Santa Claus and brought joy to many, many children.
Bob was a member of the Minneapolis Evening Lions Club, V.F.W. Post #3201, the American Legion and he volunteered many hours at Rock City. He was currently serving as a board member at Rock City.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, James, Dale, Marion, Wilma Shoemaker, and Dorothy Hardisty. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother Donald.
Survivors include his wife Myrt of the home; his daughter Karla Bronson and her special friend Kelly Ross of Abilene; two granddaughters Kristina Davidson of Minneapolis and Kayla Logan and her husband Don of Beloit; and three great-grandsons Brenton, Braxton, and Tayton.
It was Bob's wishes to have his body cremated and there will be no visitation. Interment will be at a later date in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Rock City or V.F.W. Post #3201 and may be left in care of Wilson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467.
