Betty Mae Guipre, 93, Minneapolis, was called by her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 31, 2019. Betty was born October 6, 1925 in Cloud County to Glenn and Nellie (Duvall) Buckland.

After graduation from Glasco Rural High School, Betty boarded a train to Kansas City where she worked at the Kansas City Board of Trade. She returned to Salina in 1946 to attend Brown Mackie College and she worked at the Air Force Officers Club. She and Max Guipre were united in marriage on September 8, 1946 in Salina.

Betty worked as a homemaker and at the Citizens National Bank in Minneapolis. Along with her husband, they bought the Minneapolis Grain Company from Evan Grain Company and they renamed it the Minneapolis Agri Center, where Betty was secretary and bookkeeper. After nearly 40 years in business they retired in 1992.

In her retirement years, Betty enjoyed traveling across the United States, Mexico, Canada, New Zealand, and the Bahamas. She also enjoyed playing with the grandchildren, card games, working in her yard, building puzzles, doing various crafts, and reading a good novel.

Betty was a member of the Minneapolis First United Methodist Church, Quest Club, V.F.W. Auxiliary #3201, and several bridge clubs in Minneapolis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max; son, Sidney; sister, Marie Pue; and brother, Gary Buckland.

Betty's memory will live on through her daughter, Keven Duggan of Kansas City; her son, Bryan Guipre and wife Jennifer of Minneapolis; and three grandchildren, Hunter Clark and wife Holliegh, Katie Duggan; Daylin Guipre and wife Kendra. Betty will also be remembered by her great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 9 at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or Kindred Hospice.
