Arnold K. Alderson, 67, of Delphos, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2009 at his home in Delphos following a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born October 20, 1941 at Delphos, the son of Marvin P. and Frances M. Pounds Alderson. He was a graduate of Delphos High School.
On October 13, 1963, he was united in marriage to Dixie M. Becker at the Community Bible Church in Minneapolis. Most of their married life was spent in the Delphos community. Arnie worked as a switchman for the Union Pacific Railroad until retiring in 1999. He had served on the Delphos city council and was a former mayor.
Survivors include his wife Dixie of the home; two sons: Darwin Alderson and his wife Shelly, and their children Tori, Taylor and Turner, of Abilene and Corey Alderson and his wife Jane, and their children Rikki, Kyler and Ryann of Wamego; his mother Frances "Chub" Alderson of Delphos and his brother Marvin L. Alderson of Delphos.
Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be at 2 P.M. Saturday, August 22 at the Community Bible Church in Minneapolis, with the Rev. Doug Neumann officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Inurnment will be at 4:30 P. M. Sat. at the Delphos Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of Ottawa County, in care of Wilson Shields Funeral Home, Minneapolis.
