Ada L. Harris' Obituary
Ada L. Harris, 98, Minneapolis, died Monday, June 6, 2016. She was born May 17, 1918 in Lincoln County to Arthur and Amanda (Lundstrum) Altman.
She grew up in Lincoln County and on a farm south of Ada. Before her marriage, Ada cleaned homes for neighbors and helped them with housework. She and Robert R. Harris were married on September 22, 1940. They farmed west of Minneapolis until Robert went into the service. After he returned they bought a farm east of Minneapolis. Ada lived there until 2014 when she moved to the Good Samaritan Society – Minneapolis.
Ada enjoyed raising a garden, canning fruits, sewing, and cooking. She always had time for her kids and their needs; especially the grandchildren. Ada helped raise many of her grandkids and she often loved them with the back of a wooden spoon.
She was a member of the Salt Creek Community Club and the Jolly Janes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert in 1965; son LeRoy Harris in 2005; son-in-law Eugene Krizan; five brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include her son Marvin Harris of Minneapolis; daughters Letha Keeler (John) of Barnard, Janet Krizan of Abilene; Verla Doering (Gene) of Minneapolis, and Carla Rindt (Robert) of Salina; daughter-in-law Carla Harris of Minneapolis; sister-in-law Verna Tombaugh of Salina; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M., Friday at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 Thursday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6-8. Memorials may be made to the Minneapolis High School Alumni Scholarship Fund and may be left in care of Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467.
